Running Update

I'm still running; the niggles are declining & I've been working my way back up to the half marathon distance.

I've joined the ranks of sleeves - arm & calf

I also joined Park Run & have been once so far.....

I have my first ever running toe nail injury!!  It doesn't hurt & I only found it because the polish split across the nail & then lifted so I chopped the loose bit off.

Spring has sprung in Melbourne & the weather has been bloody inclement, but hopefully will warm up soon!

I may have had a recent birthday & may have rewarded myself with some new limited edition NY Marathon sneakers!  I may have also gone for a birthday run & run my fastest 1km for probably this year!

By the time this is posted I will have run my first half marathon since the beginning of July which finishes on the hallowed turf of the MCG.  Recap to follow!

22 Push up Wrap

I actually finished this challenge a month ago - I'm too busy to be across all social media at once, hence the delay here.

What did I learned about a push up challenge?

1. Push ups are hard to do
2. Correct technique makes them harder
3. Despite wanting to continue to do them & get better at them I haven't
4. The suicide rate amongst returned soldiers in the USA is terrible
5. By comparison Australia's statistics aren't great either - far more soldiers die by suicide than in active duty from either country.  I haven't researched the statistics in the oposing countries.
6. Regardless of your view on war or the military, returned soldiers need our help to integrate back into a life that extremely different from life in the military
7. There are many people outside the military who are confronted by traumatic situations every single day & doing the challenge & researching the topic(s) has reminded me of this
8. Nobody knows what another person has going on in their life & nobody knows the affect of a traumatic situation on them

Please be kind with your words always; engage with your fellow humans in meaningful ways; check in on your family, check in on your mates; don't be afraid to ask people if they are OK; don't be afraid to ask more than once.  If you are struggling emotionally or psychologically please talk to someone - a family member, a friend, a work colleague, a mentor, your doctor, a stranger (lifeline, beyond blue) - you are worthy of a happy life & life is too short to go it alone when there are people out there who want to help.
