The Beach

So. We went to the beach.  Not Bora Bora unfortunately, but the south east coast of New South Wales.  Pambula/Merimbula, actually.  We stayed in a lovely holiday house 2kms walk from Pambula & 4kms walk from Merimbula, with a 1 km walk to the back beach that runs between the two.

As I've been back a week already & no updates here due to drowning in paper work, I'll keep the words to a minimum & let the pictures do the talking.  Sorry to those on facebook - you'll have seen most of these already!!

We towed up Plumbing Boy's & his best mate's dirt bike with his best mate's trailer.  First stop was to get the spare fixed.

Which turned out not to be the spare after all.  The spare was on the trailer.  Luke we were only 1km out of a town that actually had an open repairer on a Saturday afternoon in a smaller country town.

9 hours later we arrived to rain.  Boo hoo.

Our friends were still at the house with their pooch.  We left him at home & went out for dinner the first night.

First morning, we woke early & went for a walk into Pambula, then Pambula beach checking out the local wild life.
Then back home along the back beach.  A lovely way to properly start our holidays after a day in the car with tyre issues!!!

Made it home then back to the beach with our friends for a dip, some frisbee & beach cricket.

Spent most of the next day in bed reading my first book.  So inspirational!!

Out for icecream/gelato.

Started out well with the exercise, however that waned as time went on.  I actually had a really tight hamstring before we went resulting in pulling out of my last run & having to miss the weekend's long run after a visit to the physio.  A bit of a massage & some acupuncture, the verdict was I needed to stretch, roll & continue to strengthen weak glutes.  I guess I'd been a bit lazy with it all since the marathon, so have a couple of new rehab exercises to assist.

Our friends departed on Wednesday, then we had the house to ourselves and the birds!!

Took advantage of the deck despite the overcast weather; we had a top of 21 most days with showers.  I was glad that I packed my ugg boots.  Although I did get a little sun burnt laying out reading on the deck (as well as eating!!)

I decided to do my first ever Febfast & give up booze for the shortest month of this year, so ended the last day of January with Champagne in the bath....

& dinner out at a local pub.

Took a drive to Bermagui via Bombala on the 1/2 as the weather was a bit chilly & PB had a sore foot.

4 hours later we finally arrived for a late lunch of fish n chips.  Thankfully it was GOOD!!!!

Topped it off with salted caramel & boysenberry ice cream.  It wasn't that good :-(

Loved hanging out with these guys - was hand feeding a number of them by the time we left.

The cockatoo's didn't let me get that close, plus I value my fingers, so didn't attempt to hand feed these guys.

Took a hike one day from Green Cape on the south side of Eden.  We clocked up 13kms in 4 hours - picked up the pace on the way back to the car as we were meeting a friend for lunch.  Thankfully we didn't see the Tiger snake or the Goanna some fellow walkers did see on the same trail.

But did see 3 Goanna's as we were driving back to Eden for lunch & had to stop for a photo or 5.

Did a little more reading

 And eating.....

Including a final feast for the rainbow lorrikeets!!!  Our friends left a fridge & freezer full of food & despite out best efforts, there was plenty left for the birds.

We came home a day early to catch up with some fellow Black Cat Track hikers & a day out at Somers which included a visit to the Museum at HMAS Cerberus  but that tale will have to wait for another day!!!
