PC

How PC is it to correct the spelling of a teacher???

We take work experience students as part of our community service each year; usually we manage 4 - 6 for 2 week blocks at a time. It is fairly taxing & we try to spread them out to give the students the best opportunity to have the best possible experience.

I received an email from a teacher yesterday who was spelling plumbing as plumming & plummer. Should or should I not correct her.

Votes Please!

The other variation that makes me giggle is sometimes people with accents call us plumpers or plumping!

Hey you, sorry I've been quiet on the comments front lately. Still reading!!!

I say - CORRECT THEM! This is half the problem with our education system. You can get into education at University with a below average year 12 score! Go figure.

No Probs Amanda - it takes a while to catch up on reading sometimes doesn't it!!!

My first thought was to correct her - I asked my office assistant who said that it would be a good idea, but it kept nagging me, hence the post!

i mean WOULD NOT be a good idea so I didn't.

Sometimes I can just not fathom the people who are teaching our kids. My mate is a primary school teacher, but her spelling leaves a lot to be desired... you can see the evidence of this generations bad teaching by the way kids spell. Just look on Facebook!

My nephew had a teacher go off on him for referring to her as "Ms Prince" in an email. She wrote a long tirade about how her name is "Dr Prince" and then she signed it "Ms Prince" - my sister debated for days about whether to write back and try to point out the total stupidity of that.

Hey Ute - yes, FB spelling by juniors is bloody atrocious! Do they all rely on spell check???

Memphis - that's crazy!!! What a bloody dickhead - if she wants to be refered to as Dr, she needs to sign off as Dr!!!

Well....

I emailed her back, apolgising for being a pest, but it had bothered me that she'd spelt plummer instead of plumber & that maybe her spell check wasn't working. Her response was that she knew how to spell plumber, but sometimes the fingers are faster than the eye.
